Access from a different computer

As you may already know, InspectX requires a computer running a Windows operating system, however, without any installation you can also access your version of the InspectX database from a Mac, iPad, Android, or any other device with a browser.

For the purpose of understanding which device is which, let’s call the Windows computer with InspectX installed the “server”. We’ll call the alternate device you wish you open InspectX with the “client” device.

In order for the client device to communicate with your server they will both need to be turned on and connected to the same network (an internet connection is not required).

On the server (hosting machine), open InspectX and click the Help > About InspectX or the logo on the Project selection page.

At the bottom of the “About” window will be a computer name and IP address.
Either can be used, but my preference is the IP address (yours will be different).

Simply type this name or IP address EXACTLY as it is written from your window, into the web browser’s address bar of your client device.

!Pay attention to type this into your client device’s address bar and not into the Google Search tab!

*Once connected, save the address as a favorite or bookmark for easy retrieval in the future.

*Consider changing the power settings of your server to “Never sleep when plugged in” to avoid connection loss if the server machine turns off from inactivity.
