The configuration file contains the category/button names, their specific location/order as well as all the ‘quick insert options’.
Different configurations can be used for different types of reports (Yacht and Small Craft, Appraisals, Damage, Facility Inspections, etc.).
If you think of the textual input within a report as content then the configuration file is the container for that information. The ‘Quick Insert Options’ are lists attached to each of these ‘containers’, and when you add or delete content from the Quick Insert Options this applies to ALL reports opened with this Configuration File. Understanding this, it should be clear that you would not want to have completely different Quick Insert Option’s list for different types of vessels, as most of the content overlaps. Unused or unwanted sections and headings can simply be marked ‘Not Applicable’ within the project itself.
If you did want to keep multiple configuration Files (for different types of reports or different languages) you can store up to 9 different configuration files within InspectX and easily switch between them by using the SELECT
menu button and choosing which CONFIGURATION
you want to select (this menu is only visible if you have more than 1 configuration file saved).
The blue highlighted configuration indicates which is currently selected and the orange outline indicates which is set as your default configuration.
When importing a project a temporary configuration file is created called [Imported Project] so that the content can be displayed correctly even if sent from a surveyor with a different configuration layout.
This [Imported Project] configuration file will not contain any quick insert options. If you choose to share your custom Quick Insert Options with another surveyor you would then Export your configuration file for them to import on their side.
