HEIC and HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Container/Format) is a file format used to save photos on Apple devices and some Android devices.

This is not a standard image format and photographs taken in these formats require a special codec to view/open outside of those devices, as they are intended for sharing within that device’s architecture only.

On iPhone:

  1. Open Settings: Go to your device’s settings.
  2. Scroll and Find Camera: Scroll down and locate the “Camera” option.
  3. Formats: Tap on “Formats” under the Camera settings.
  4. Choose Most Compatible: Select “Most Compatible” instead of “High Efficiency.”

On Android:

  1. Open Camera App: Open your device’s camera app.
  2. Access Camera Settings: Look for the settings gear icon and tap on it to access camera settings.
  3. Find Image Quality or Format: Depending on your device, look for options related to image quality or image format.
  4. Select JPEG: Choose the option that captures images in JPEG format.
