The orientation of an image is determined in the camera from which the image was taken. Most modern cameras (especially phones) will take an image in any orientation and add meta-data into the image so that it may appear upright even when the image is in fact upside-down.
This is most prevalent with an iPhone, and this image meta-data is not recognized by Windows computers and vice-versa, so images taken with an iPhone will often appear incorrectly oriented after importing into InspectX.
The first trick to preventing this is to take all your report images in the correct orientation the first time round. If you’re using a camera other than the iPhone you’ll just have to determine the best orientation for the camera by process of elimination. I can tell you that I have to hold my phone with the + -
volume keys toward the ground for correct orientation.
It’s worth noting that images are best presented when taken horizontally, or in ‘landscape’ view.
